Blackpool Towns Fund Update

We’re just writing to thank everyone who gave us their thoughts on Blackpool through The Future Of Blackpool website. We had a fantastic response, with over 1,000 people getting in touch with us, and others being contacted by our engagement team to give their views over the phone. All of the responses were sent to the Town Deal Board for their consideration when developing our bid for Town Deal funding. Read a summary of the findings here: https://www.blackpool.gov.uk/Your-Council/Creating-a-better-Blackpool/Blackpool-Town-Deal/Assets/Documents/Town-Deal-Board-Presentation-10.07.2020.pdf

Blackpool is one of 101 towns across the country in line for significant government investment through the £3.6 billion Towns Fund, aimed at strengthening the local economy and revitalising the town as we build for future recovery post Covid-19. Your voice has helped shape and strengthen our proposals, and has influenced our bid for £50m that was submitted to government, which included prospective projects such as improved road access to the Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone, modernisation of the Illuminations and further support to small and start-up businesses. Once we hear more about whether our bid has been successful, which we’re told will be in mid-Autumn, we’ll be reaching out again to residents, local organisations and visitors to make sure the projects that are delivered meet the needs of as many people as possible. And as you’ve taken the time to give us your views and ideas, we’ve got some exciting plans to keep you involved if we are awarded funding – fingers crossed!

Thank you again for your input. We’re ecstatic to see that Blackpool means so much to so many people, and look forward to developing our town together with you in the future.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact our engagement team at infusion@blackpool.gov.uk .
